The Society was delighted to present Royal Highland Education Trust (RHET) Fife Countryside Initiative with a cheque for £5000 at AgriScot 2018. Carol Brunton, RHET Project Coordinator, who gratefully accepted the cheque from Gordon Rennie, commented "this money will have a huge impact on the amount of visits we can provide and will make a difference to a number of young people in the area. RHET Fife CI are extremely grateful to SSCR for their generosity".
The money will be used to provide a Food & Farming event on 8th May 2019 at Braeside of Lindores for primary 6 pupils in the Cupar/Newburgh/North Fife area where they will attend for the whole day and learn about cereals, livestock, diversification, gamekeeping, vegetables, machinery, wildlife crime, environmental schemes and farming through the ages. It is anticipated that there will be in around 200 pupils attending this event. Some of the money will also go to subsidising bus costs for schools to go on farm visits throughout Fife during the year.
